Bio Polishing

Biopolishing is a finishing process in textile that enhances fabric quality by decreasing the pilling tendency and fuzziness of (cellulose) knitted fabrics.

It is carried out by using cellulase enzymes, where a modification on the cotton fabric surface is performed, in a manner which will prevent pilling and increase the smoothness and softness of the final material.

Bio Polishing targets at the removal of small fibre ends protruding from the yarn surface in the fabric. In order to carry out this process, the enzyme in free state otherwise called ‘free cellulase’ is used in the treatment bath following conventional batch process

Advantages of Bio Polishing

  • Depth of shade increases when enzyme treatment is given before dyeing but the depth decreases when enzyme treatment is given after dyeing.

  • Decreases the Pilling tendency.

  • Wash fastness of the enzyme treated sample after dyeing is good

  • After finishing the bio polishing, the surface of the fabric is clean, shiny, soft, and the pendant coefficient is reduced, and can achieve the quality that the general softening agent cannot achieve.
